[To my fellow friends who are eagerly waiting to know what happened to us during the quiz]
Alhamdulillah, it’s finally over! 9th Inter-Medical Physiology Quiz is done! Overall result was that we lost to Chulalongkorn University from Thailand at quarter final (other competing universities in the same group were University of Sri Jayewardenepura from Sri Lanka and UNIMAS).
Kalah mmg tetap kalah, but being in the top 16 out of 50 48 universities from 18 different countries, you couldn’t help but to pat yourself on the back and say “Job well done!” Hehehe. Atas stage tuh, Allah je la yg mampu tlg. Yg xigt, Dia igtkan. Yg xtau, Dia tlg bagi ilham wat educated guess. ‘Ala kulli hal, nothing is possible without Him.
So, the quiz started off with 100 true/false statements. I got 3 words to describe the questions : Bapak gyle susah! Naseb baik quiz je, klau exam mmg fail sudaaa. The top 10 scorers for the written test were mostly students from Chulalongkorn Uni, National Uni of S’pore and the remaining were from UM, Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia. Hebat siiih org Siam nie. Tp BI hancur, pening dgr dieorg explain time oral. But I really salute their confidence to explain in English.
Anyway, the MCQ was like the screening test to rank 50 universities and group them according to the scores. This is how they hierarchy-ied it : The top 8 universities from the written test will secure their places in the quarter-final whereas the next 32 uni will have to fight in the 1st round. And the bottom 10, will be given another chance to compete in the preliminary round.

Again, Alhamdulillah we managed to get into the 1st round. Tp yg klakarnya, ade urusetia salah bg info, ckp kami among the bottom 10, kena masuk pre-lim. Seriously, everybody just got de-motivated knowing that. Cam bapak teruk arr kiteorg. Sy siap layan blue kat beranda, sedih sgt kot. Hahaha.
In the pre-lim round, the questions were quite basic, easy and straight-forward. Cam confidence arr skit. But, when the 1st round had finally started, our expectation was off the track. Soalan2 sungguh tricky and bersimpang-siur. Sungguh cuak dan rase mcm mahu pengsan je. But, Allah is there for those who believe. Tawakkal je la kami. Competing together in the same group were UKM, Walailak University, Allienze Uni. And Allah’s will, we managed to outsmart the other three uni and move on to the quarter-final.
Unfortunately, the quarter-final session began in the afternoon. We were sleep-deprived and the brains felt like shutting down already. Expecting to lose in that round (tgk la uni mne kene lwn, mereka hebat siih). And we did lose. Okay, that was it, lepas tuh, kami pn terus pulang. Hahaha.

| Bye bye Mr Ganong! |
Thanks a lot Sof and twin sbb dtg (jauh2 naik KTM plak tuh) utk support kami di UM. And to Mr Sgt-Bersmangat-Nk-Dtg-Support-Kuiz, thanks sbb dtg and give huge moral support to us. Sian plak, kalut2 habis daurah dtg UM plak. And to those yg wish tru msg, thanks jgak ye! Allah yubarik fikum!
p.s. The overall winning goes to Chulalongkorn Uni from Thailand, 2nd : All Indian Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), 3rd : National Uni of S'Pore (NUS). Local uni xde pn masuk final. Sedey2, I was putting my hope on USM actually, tp dieorg kalah gk.
P.s.s. Just in case you didn’t get the overall picture of the quiz, the quiz started with MCQ test. Then ade pre-limà1st roundà2nd round aka quarter-finalàsemi-finalàfinal…
